Plt Off Maurice Peter Brown

Plt Off Maurice Peter Brown joined 611 Sqn at RAF Digby, Lincs on 21 September 1939. He saw action over Dunkirk in June 1940 and his Spitfire was damaged in combat with Bf109s on 2 June. Whilst with 611 he was credited with a half share of a Do17 on 21 Aug 1940; another half share of a Do17 on 15 September and a confirmed kill of a He111 on the same date. He was then posted to No 41 Squadron on 28 September.

We have received the following and if anyone can help please contact Charles Speh at the contact addresses below.:

I am trying to obtain information relating to Maurice Peter Brown
whom I believe joined 611 Squadron in September 1939.
I know he sadly died in January 2011, but I am interested in trying
to find colleagues of Peter Brown who might remember him, and in
particular a watch (not a pilot's watch),which I have examined, and
has the name "Peter" Brown engraved on the back with the date 1-9-39.

Being a US veteran myself, I am interested in learning about the
men who saved this country in 1940. It would be interesting to know if in
fact there is a real connection with the watch to Maurice Peter Brown.
