Photograph of 611 Sqn taken at RAF Biggin Hill around May 1943 sent by Dennis Flentje, the son-in-law of Ex Sgt Pilot Vernon Lancaster, both now living in Australia. Vernon was credited with at least two 'kills', a Bf109 on 17 May 1943 and a FW190 on 30 May. On the photo he is 9th from the left between the two pilots wearing Mae Wests. Also seen in the centre of the photo are the CO Sqn Ldr EFJ Charles DFC, Wg Cdr Al Deere DFC*, Gp Cpt Sailor Malan DSO, DFC*, Commandant Rene Mouchotte (CO 341 Free French Sqn) with the 611 pilots on the left and 341 French on the right.
